During the entire month of FEBRUARY 2015, three Italian artists under 35 will be hosted in Albisola to experiment in the field of contemporary ceramics.
The programme is funded as part of the Festival Internazionale della Maiolica 2014. The Festival is organised by the Municipalities of Albisola Superiore, Albissola Marina, Savona and Genoa, with the support of CCIAA Savona and Fondazione A. De Mari Cassa di Risparmio di Savona, and is coordinated by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Albisola Superiore, embodying the leader institution of the project.
The residency programme has been designed and organised by Gianluca Anselmo for the cultural association Gruppo ACCA (Amici Cultura e Ceramica Albisola) and has been developed in collaboration with Associazione per il Circuito dei Giovani Artisti Italiani.
Gianna Caviglia of GAI Genova promoted the circulation on a national scale of the public notice announcing the open call for artists. The selection process was conducted by a jury of experts: Loredana Pessa (Municipality of Genoa – Culture, Tourism and Sports Department) / Francesca Serrati (Municipality of Genoa – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce) / Luca Bochicchio (Archivio d’Arte Contemporanea of the University of Genoa – curator of the MuDA project) / Danilo Trogu (Ceramist) / Serena Zanardi (Artist).
The three selected artists were: Nero/Alessandro Neretti (FAENZA), Ottavia Paraboschi (GENOVA), Antonio Armenia (TORINO).
In the first days of their residency, the artists will visit the sites which narrate the local history of artistic excellence: the Museo della Ceramica, the Pinacoteca Civica and the Museo Archeologico in Savona; the MuDA Museo Diffuso Albisola (Casa Museo Jorn, Exhibition Centre, Lungomare degli Artisti and the old town centre) in Albissola Marina; the Museo Manlio Trucco in Albisola Superiore; the Musei di Strada Nuova, Palazzo Ducale and Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce situated in Genoa. During the course of the programme, the artists in residence will meet established artists and curators currently working in the field of ceramic art. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to work in the productions sites of the Albisole area to give shape to their original projects. The artworks will be put on exhibition in the Spring/Summer of 2015 at Albisola and Genoa.
