The Museum in your hands: a hackathon day at the Ceramics Museum

On Tuesday 16th January 2018, Savona will welcome many young professionals and cultural operators ready to be put their minds to the test, to develop innovative proposals for the future management of the museum.

The Savona Ceramics Museum is always looking towards being a key player in the cultural and touristic platform for the region. For this reason it has launched the hackathon, which aims to select a new team to experiment with managing the Ceramics Museum for two years, and possibly for a third year.

When and where?

The event will be held at Campus Universitario di Savona (Savona university campus) in via Magliotto, 2, from 9.30 to 18.30 on Tuesday 16th January 2018

Who is the hackathon for?

It is for freelance workers and employees in the cultural, touristic, creative, design and innovation sectors and to whoever thinks they can contribute positively to enhancing the potential of the local ceramics culture and in particular, the Savona Ceramics Museum. Participation is also open to groups of people who represent companies, start ups or associations.

How can I participate?

You can sign up until the 13th December. Filling out the form is easy, all you have to do is go to the website www.fondazionegarrone.it (choosing the relevant form for single participants or groups), fill it out and send it with your CV to museoceramica@fondazionegarrone.it

What are the advantages for the “best” participants?

During the course of the day, the organizers will judge ideas and proposals, with the aim of selecting at least 10 participants who will be included in running the project. These participants will have the opportunity to, either singularly or in groups, create a business plan and an innovative management model that will include not just the welcome activities, and cultural and educational mediation, but also management aspects of the museum, from the ticket office to organizing events.

The event, supported by the Savona Ceramics Museum Foundation – Onlus e Edoardo Garrone Foundation, was created to create a melting pot of ideas through brainstorming, exchanges and work groups. Ideas that can be translated into innovative solutions to enhance the potential of the museum in years to come. The hackathon is just the first step in a wider-scale project that, through the collaboration of public and private entities that manage cultural heritage, will allow the museum to become the centre of a new model that enhances the cultural value and touristic potential of the ceramics heritage in Savona.
